Terms & Conditions

Welcome to The Daily Oracle, a product of The Pattern. Unpacked. ("we", "our", or "us").

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the The Daily Oracle mobile app, our website, and related services (the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Services and to purchase a subscription. By using the Services you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. What the Services Are — and Are Not

The Daily Oracle provides educational content, psychoeducation, reflective tools, journaling tools, and general relationship guidance for self-development purposes only.

The Services are not, and are not a substitute for:

  • therapy
  • counselling
  • psychological treatment
  • crisis support
  • medical advice
  • legal advice
  • diagnosis of you or any other person

Using the Services does not create a therapist–client, coach–client, doctor–patient, or other professional relationship. If you are in immediate danger or crisis, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining access to the email and account you use to sign in, and for the activity and content under your account. Keep your login secure and notify us of any unauthorised use. You are responsible for the content you submit.

4. Free and Paid Features

The Daily Oracle — one daily message — and the daily Clarity Check-In are free. An optional subscription unlocks premium features, including the full 52-Week Journey, Ask Odessa, saved Journey reflections and progress, and the Freedom File.

5. Subscriptions, Free Trial & Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions can be purchased directly in the web app, where they are billed securely by our payment processor, Stripe. Where the app is offered through the Apple App Store or Google Play, subscriptions purchased there are billed by the relevant store (managed via RevenueCat).

  • New subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial.
  • If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your paid subscription begins automatically at the price shown at sign-up, which may vary by country or currency.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each period until cancelled. Your card (for web purchases) or store account (for app store purchases) is charged at the start of the paid period and at each renewal.
  • Prices may vary by region and may change; we will give notice of price changes as required by applicable law and, where relevant, the app stores.

6. Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time:

  • Web app: open the You tab and tap Cancel membership. You can also pause your membership for a month instead, or manage your card and view invoices via the billing portal.
  • iOS (App Store): Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → The Daily Oracle
  • Android (Google Play): Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions

When you cancel, your membership ends at the close of your current billing period — you keep full access until then and will not be charged again. For app store subscriptions, cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. Cancelling your subscription is separate from deleting your account.

7. Refunds

Payments are non-refundable except where required by law. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current billing period. Your statutory consumer rights (including under the Australian Consumer Law) always apply.

  • Web subscriptions are billed by us through Stripe. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, contact hello@thedailyoracle.org.
  • App Store / Google Play subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google and any refunds are handled under their policies — for Apple, visit reportaproblem.apple.com; for Google, use the Google Play Store.

Website/e-book purchases are digital and generally final unless required otherwise by law. If you have a problem accessing a purchase, contact hello@thedailyoracle.org.

8. AI-Generated Content

Some features (including Ask Odessa) use AI to generate educational and reflective responses. AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not applicable to your situation, and must not be relied upon as professional advice or a factual diagnosis. Use your own judgment and consult a qualified professional for important decisions.

9. No Guarantees

We do not guarantee specific emotional, relationship, behavioural, or healing outcomes, or that any interpretation will apply to your circumstances. Individual experiences vary.

10. User Conduct & Community Standards

You agree to use the Services lawfully and respectfully, and not to:

  • misuse, disrupt, or attempt to breach the security of the Services
  • reverse-engineer or attempt to access other users' data
  • upload unlawful, abusive, harassing, or harmful content
  • impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
  • use the Services to harm yourself or others

We may suspend or terminate access that breaches these standards.

11. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, designs, frameworks, text, graphics, app experiences, the Odessa character, and educational materials are owned by The Daily Oracle / The Pattern. Unpacked. unless otherwise stated, and are provided for your individual personal use only. You may not reproduce, redistribute, resell, share, copy, or commercially exploit our content without written permission. You retain ownership of the content you create and grant us the limited licence needed to operate the Services for you (for example, to store it and generate responses).

12. Limitation of Liability

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Daily Oracle / The Pattern. Unpacked. shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, emotional distress, loss of data, relationship outcomes, or decisions made in reliance on the Services or AI-generated responses. Nothing in these Terms excludes any liability that cannot be excluded by law (including non-excludable consumer guarantees).

13. Account Termination & Deletion

You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time from Profile → Account → "Delete my account", or by following our Account Deletion instructions. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google — cancel that separately (see Section 6).

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a revised date and, for material changes, provide notice in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia and the State of [State/Territory to be confirmed], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local consumer law applies to you.
